Academia Brasileira de Letras

The building, an replica of the Trianon of Versalles, was built to house the French delegation at the International Comemorative Exhibition of the Centennial Brazilian Independence, in 1922, and later bestowed by the French Government so that it became the head office of the Brazilian Academy of Letters.

The building in neoclassic style, surrounded by Corinthian columns, was inaugurated in 1910. The collection contains approximately 9 million rareties such as letters written by Princess Isabel, the first newspapers printed in the country, and many historical documents.
